Arresting George Aladwa will not change anything

ARRESTING GEORGE ALADWA WILL NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. WHETHER THAT IS WHAT HE SAID OR NOT, IT'S EXACTLY THE GENERAL FEELING OF KENYANS OPPOSED TO ELECTION THEFT

ODM Nairobi Branch Chairman George Aladwa has found himself in trouble over the remarks he allegedly made at a political rally in Kibra. In a video clip which has gone viral on social media, he is heard saying thus:

“2017 is near and as ODM we are left with one bullet. This time round if Raila Odinga wins and he is denied victory through rigging of the elections things will turn ugly. People must die for Raila to become president.”

In 2007, Mwai Kibaki would have trashed the election outcome and imposed his will on the people of Kenya had there not been resistance by supporters of Raila Odinga. At least, the government was shared out on a 50-50 basis. The fact is that Uhuru Kenyatta supporters have always said publicly that Raila Odinga will never rule this country, even if he were to win the election. Do you expect his supporters to just sit back and watch their victory being snatched by enemies of democracy a third consecutive time? You must be mad.

Before you move to arrest Aladwa, have Moses Kuria jailed first over his remarks which incited Jubilee youth to cut with pangas all those opposed to corruption that saw Sh826 billion being embezzled at the NYS. Whatever step you take against Aladwa, he has already delivered the message. Kenyans are tired of leaders who rig themselves into power, only later to disregard the feelings of the people they are meant to serve. Leaders who get into power through the backdoor do not respect anybody. They don't care about what people think or say simply because they are confident they would still find their way back into power without the help of the voters by election malpractice. Which is why teachers were treated with contempt by Jubilee administration. Uhuru Kenyatta knows too well he never assumed power through a democratic process. He is aware he was never elected by the teachers and that even if he mistreats them he stands to lose nothing. He will still rig himself back into State House even without their help. Do you expect such a leader to address the myriad of problems afflicting Kenyans? Not at all.

The only way to prevent a repeat of 2007/8 post election violence is to respect the will of the people at the ballot.
