Artistes anxious as Ogopa DJs cancel all contracts

Ogopa DJs, one of the most successful Kenyan recording houses has triggered uncertainty after it declined to renew recording artistes' contracts.

Among the artistes affected are Mustapha, Kenzo, Avril, Marya and Trapee. It is still not clear why Ogopa’s owners, brothers Lucas and Francis Bikedo, chose to do so.

Mustapha spoke to a local radio station saying he was confused over the cancellation of his contract.

Ogopa’s spokesman, Emmanuel Banda said there is a lot of confusion about the whole matter and that a full report would be available by the weekend.

Meanwhile, it is still not clear what songstress, Amani's position is as she has been struggling to leave the label. According to the label's spokesperson, she still has three years going by her contract.
