The Nairobi Chief Magistrate, Ann Ndungu on Tuesday issued a warrant for the arrest of Lawyer Kethi Kilonzo after she failed to appear in court for the hearing of criminal charges against her.

Kethi was accused of stealing a voter’s registration acknowledgement slip valued at Sh5 and handling stolen property. She denied the charges in September last year and was released on a Sh100,000 bond  with a similar surety.

On Tuesday the court was informed that she had obtained an order stopping the criminal case pending the hearing of an application before the High Court.

The order, according to trial magistrate, had not been served to the lower court to ascertain if the criminal case has been halted by the High Court.

Kethi is facing charges alongside Godfrey Lemiso, an officer from the IEBC.

The court directed that the matter be mentioned on July 8.
