Referees were on Sunday forced to call off a match between AFC Leopards and Thika United at the 85th minute. The decision was made when angry AFC leopards fans stormed the pitch causing mayhem with the score at 1-0 in favour of Thika United. The winning goal was scored by Dennis Odhiambo in the 10th minute.
As the match neared conclusion, sections of the fans got frustrated and started throwing water bottles and other missiles into the pitch eventually storming the pitch.
Kenyan Premier League’s Head of Security GMT Ottieno said that they are waiting for the referee’s report before making decisions regarding the match.
AFC leopards may pay heavy penalties for their fans actions including a fine.
In other matches, Tusker beat the Kenya Revenue Authority 3-1 in a contest at Kinoru Stadium in Meru while Ulinzi Stars hit Top Fry 1-0 in a Nakuru derby at Afraha Stadium.
At Mbaraki Sports club in Mombasa, Sony Sugar settled for a 1-1 draw with Bandari while Mathare United dimmed Nairobi City Stars 1-0 at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
