Interior cabinet secretary Joseph Ole lenku has accused the opposition of recruiting the disbanded Mungiki sect and MRC with to cause chaos in the country.
He alleged that there was information that the opposition was preparing Mungiki to cause chaos and bloodshed in the country.
“I am not afraid to say that the opposition is recruiting the Mungiki sect to advance their political agendas,“ said Ole lenku after attending a church service at Gitui ACK in Murang’a County on Sunday.
He also added that the current political heat in the country was helping energize the activities of Al shaabab terrorists who have increased the frequency of their attacks lately.
The CS noted that the calls by the Cord coalition for Saba Saba mass demonstration were geared towards inciting communities to rise against others.
“We know the calls for mass demonstration on Saba Saba day targets a certain community,”he said without mentioning the community he was referring to.
He alleged that the opposition intended to disrupt peace in the country following the numerous criminal activities.
“Some people are funding the criminal gangs to cause chaos so that everyone can believe that there is no security in the country, “he added while addressing the faithfuls.
Lenku said the government will ruthlessly deal with the leaders found inciting the communities.
“The government will not allow such people to cause chaos and killinnocent lives only for greedy to capture power,” he said.
