Bobby Williamson hired to coach Harambee stars

5 Aug 2014

The Football Kenya Federation on Tuesday appointed Gor Mahia coach, Bobby Williamson, to be the head coach of the National football team Harambee Stars. Musa Otieno will be his deputy while Simeon Mulama takes the position of the team manager.

This came less than 48 hours after the previous coach, Adel Amrouche, was fired hours after a shocking home draw with Lesotho.

The goaless draw on Sunday in Nairobi led to the elimination of Kenya 1-0 on aggregate from the African Nations Cup qualifiers by Lesotho.

"This is the beginning of a fresh start for our football," Football Kenya Federation president Sam Nyamweya told journalists adding that details of Williamson's contract would be announced later although he said, it would not be less than two years.

Williamson, 52, has been managing Kenyan champions Gor Mahia, and also had spells in charge of Chester and Plymouth Argyle in England.
