24 Aug 2014

Kenyan giants AFC Leopards on Saturday beat Mathare United 3-2 in the GOtv Shield match at the Nyayo National Stadium. The match was interrupted by heavy rains for 50 minutes.

Noah Wafula struck a brace in the first half while midfielder Charles Okwemba snatched the winner to send AFC Leopards into the next round.

James Situma helped Mathare half the deficit by scoring an own goal as Edwin Ombasa sent in Mathare’s second goal in the 71st minute when he shot right under Patrick Matasi’s arms.

Okwemba headed in Wafula’s long cross and scored the last goal just seven minutes to the final whistle.

Leopards will now meet second tier side Ligi Ndogo in the next round.
