Leaders accuse Jubilee of dictatorial tendencies

Cord leaders have accused the Jubilee administration of dictatorial tendencies. Addressing rallies in Wundanyi and Mwatate on Thursday, they blamed Jubilee for derailing devolution processes by withholding funds from the county governments.

Speaking at the rallies, Raila said tribalism is rife in the Jubilee administration noting that government employment opportunities were mainly awarded to just two tribes, leaving out other groups.

“The recent appointments by the President do not represent the face of the country,” he said.

Raila accused Uhuru of not solving coastal land problems of historical injustices and instead flashing around title deeds to hoodwink residents into supporting his tenure.

“Roadside declarations have become the order of the day by Jubilee government,”  he said.

Raila also noted that the Lands Cabinet Secretary, Charity Ngilu had usurped powers belonging to the National Land Commission and was now at the coast to ensure illegal and anomalous land dealings are not corrected. He also added that the referendum was a move attempting to solve the myriad challenges currently plaguing Kenyans.

“Unemployment rate has continued to grow since all important resources that are supposed to benefit counties are under the management of the national government,” he said.

Addressing the same meeting, Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama questioned Uhuru's illegal and arrogant order to blow up an allegedly heroin laden ship in Mombasa. The Senator also pointed out that the suspects may not be brought to justice as the ship, which was part of the evidence had been destroyed.

“The President leads the line in breaking laws of the land and disobeying the courts. We are not sure whether they destroyed the real drugs or something else,” he said.

Leaders present at the meeting included Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Senators Moses Wetang'ula (Bungoma), Johnstone Muthama (Machakos), James Orengo (Siaya) and MPs Junet Mohamed (Suna East), Jones Mlolwa (Voi), Andrew Mwadime (Mwatate), Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu and women's representative Joyce Lay (Taita Taveta) and Mishi Mboko (Mombasa).
