Open letter to Uhuru Kenyatta, Kenya - a failed state
18 Oct 2015
Mr Kenyatta,
Sir, in Kikuyu we say, “When the lead sheep limps, the flock does not reach the pastures.” The source of poverty is poor leadership.
Those who reject good leadership also reject development. Indeed those who ignore good leadership are like sheep that drift into the leadership of lions only to be devoured by them. When people embrace good leadership, they embrace development also. Mr President, you have failed Kenyans miserably, you have lived to the tenets of your 'capitalist' father Jomo Kenyatta who sanctioned corruption openly in a public rally: “My bird, hide, if you are caught, you are not mine.” – Kanyoni gakwa wihithahithe, na wonwo nduri wakwa.” his capitalism unleashed madness of greed and corruption that your 'mentor' and professor of politics Moi advanced for 24yrs without an iota of shame or sense of responsibility to our future generations.
Mr President, as you continue with your #selfies around the world, your #birds continue to loot and steal from public coffers. Kenya is witnessing theft of monumental magnitude while you are a the helm. When your father was president, Kenya lost its most valued factor of production 'LAND' to a few rapacious homeguards, colonial chiefs and colonial birches. When your 'mentor' Moi took over, public utility plots, forests, road reserves, national reserves were plundered and stolen. Many allocated to political friends, army generals, family and proponents of ukoloni mamboleo. All these historical wrongs continue to weigh heavly on a very opptimistic and hardworking citizenry.
While as a people gets the leadership they deserve, your administration has given Kenyans a raw deal. Mr Kenyatta, Kenya is ripe for a revolution. When a populace looses hope on its leadership, military, opposition and church, it becomes a recipe for chaos and anarchy. We have a failed government, failed opposition, failed church, failed civil society, failed military inteligence... simply a failed state.
Your father's government stole our natural resources (land), Moi emptied our public coffers and enriched a few tribal chiefs crippling our economy, your government is literally sucking our blood dry. From NYS, Parliament, Counties spending madness to exorbitant travel and general allowances. All this time, you are hoping from one country to the other while at home your leutenants are marshalling political support for ICC war criminals.
Sir, is that leadership? Is that what you shall be remembered for? All a president requires to fight corruption is political goodwill and support from the citizenry. What is soo difficult to use the 'tyranny' of numbers in parliament or peoples goodwill and deal with the corrupt at least for once?
We will soon be like a hyena. If you cut a hyena and its intestines come out, it will eat them without knowing it is its own. Then it falls down and dies after a short distance. Thats what Kenya has become under your presidency. Finally, "Mûmbî níombagirwo múka, na akombîka!"
