Garissa County makes history with Cabinet reshuffle

Garissa County Government becomes the first administration in the country to undertake reshuffle of its Cabinet.

Governor Nathif Jama Adam split the Department of Water and Health while merging the Department of Culture and Inter-Community Affairs with that of Children Affairs, Social Welfare and Women Empowerment.

The Governor also created a Directorate of Rural Development and that of County Strategy and Implementation which all fall under his office.

“We are making these changes so that members of the public can benefit maximally to our service delivery,” he said.

The Governor said those appointed to head the departments are from different regions and have diverse backgrounds including gender and youth.

Mr Mukhtar Bulale, previously in charge of Health and Water remains at the office while Ms Sophia Sheikh Omar was movedto the Health Department.

The Children Affairs Department will be headed by Ms Halima Mohammed Haji.

Abdihakim Sheikh Dayib (Infrastructure)

Mohamed Abdullahi Sheikh (Strategy and Implementation)

Abdullahi Omar Musa (Chief Officer Rural Development)

Abdullahi Diis Hussein (Chief Officer, Children Affairs, Social Welfare and Women Empowerment)
