Gatundu South MP Joseph Ngugi Nyumu has died after collapsing Wednesday morning while in the bathroom at his Runda residence in Nairobi.

He died while doctors were trying to resuscitate him, at a Nairobi hospital branch.

The body is now lying at the Lee Funeral home.

Members of the Embu County Assembly call for investigations into disappearance of their County Assembly Speaker Justus Kariuki Mate. Embu County Deputy Speaker Ibrahim Swaleh says that Mate received a phone call at about 4:30pm on Monday purported to be from a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officer, and thereafter walked out from an ongoing workshop at a Nairobi Hotel.

A suspect held over the Thika Road explosions has today been charged with three counts of terrorism.

Mr Warque Dejene Sar initially pleaded guilty of planting the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that went off in two commuter buses, killing three people and injuring 62 others on May 4 along the Thika Superhighway. But after the prosecution read out the charges, he changed his plea.

He is also charged with being a member of Al Shabaab.

Magistrate Peter Ndwiga ordered the suspect to remain in custody until the case is heard and determined. Hearing has been set for July 3.

One person injured after a grenade explosion this in Garissa town, at around 8pm on Tuesday. An unexploded grenade has also been found along Uchumi road in the town.
