Cartels, mafia holding Jubilee captive - MP

7 Jun 2014

Wheeler-dealers have taken the government captive and could complicate its bid for re-election, a Jubilee MP has warned.

Mukurwe-ini’s Kabando wa Kabando Friday said President Kenyatta’s government was committing many mistakes that would ultimately make it fall if they were not addressed soon.

In a statement, he pointed out several incidents in which the government had failed to make proper judgment, giving its opponents ammunition for their attacks.

“Advertising tenders for airlifting presidential speeches is evidently a silly attempt to defraud taxpayers.“

The single-sourcing for security services provision by a mobile telephone company is also another error of judgment making our noble efforts to be dwarfed by our self-inflicted scars,” the lawmaker said.

CORD leaders last week urged the President to convene national talks over the challenges facing the country, but Jubilee said it preferred Parliament-driven talks.

Mr Kabando asked Mr Kenyatta to act fast and decisively to save the government from further mistakes.

“Our President must crack the whip and drop the ruinous and gluttonous cartel off the radar. There’s a clique of greedy mafia spoiling Jubilee agenda. They think they own this regime. We will smoke them out of their insidious cover,” the MP said.
