Motorists on the Mai Mahiu-Narok road were on Saturday stranded for over an hour at Ntulele when hundreds of angry youth blocked the road and lit bon-fires in protest over insecurity.
Tourists heading to the world-famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve were among those inconvenienced by the road barricades.
The demonstrators were complaining over the state of rising insecurity in the area. They also claimed that three boda boda operators had been robbed of their motorcycles recently in the area.
The few policemen from the nearby Ntulele police station appeared overwhelmed by the crowds, who demanded to be addressed by senior police officials in the area.
Area OCPD Paul Leting and County Commissioner Farah Kassim were expected to address them.
