DP William Ruto's account falls to anonymous hackers
25 Jul 2014
Deputy President William Ruto is the latest high profile official in government to have his official Twitter account infiltrated and compromised.
This comes barely one week after the official twitter account for the Kenya Defence Forces and their Liaison and Protocol officer Emmanuel Chirchir were taken over by presumably the same group of unknown hackers. The said hackers then posted messages in protest of several government and political activity in the country.
Both KDF and Chirchir’s account were momentarily recovered only for the group calling themselves Anonymous to recapture the accounts and proceed with their crusades.
Among some information that has been posted on the account is an alleged mobile phone number belonging to Mr Ruto, and other government websites that have been infiltrated by hackers.
The websites allegedly hacked are Integrated Financial Management Information System (ifmis.go.ke), and Immigration and Registration of Persons (http://www.mirp.go.ke).
The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) have since shut down their Twitter account.
