ODM wins Kajiado parliamentary seat in close contest

The Orange Democratic Movement has retained the Kajiado Central parliamentary seat after their candidate Memusi Kanchory emerged victorious in a close race against Jubilee's Patrick ole Tutui.

Memusi garnered 16,008 votes, against ole Tutui's 15,508, while Kuntai Nkashuma who was an independent candidate for the parliamentary seat, came a distant third with just 100 votes.

The Kajiado Central parliamentary seat that fell vacant after President Kenyatta appointed former Member of Parliament Joseph Nkaissery’s to head the Interior and Coordination docket.

Memusi and Tutui had been exchanging the lead at various points earlier on Monday as the tallying continued, before the ODM candidate finally took the lead with only 8 polling stations to go.

Memusi rejoined the ODM movement, after losing the Jubilee nomination which he said were marred by irregularities.
