Jubilee's Tutui says he'll win poll as Kajiado by-election kicks off

Jubilee candidate Patrick Tutui has said he is sure ofa win in the Kajiado by-election with a margin of 10,000 votes.

He was speaking on Monday when he cast his vote at IIbisil primary school. Tutui was accompanied by Jubilee members including MP Moses Sakuda, Katoo ole Metito and Kajiado Senator PeterMositet.

The by-election has attracted three contenders; Tutui,ODM 's Elijah Memusi and Kuntai Nkashuma - an independent candidate.

Memusi accompanied by ODM officials cast his vote at IIbisil Boarding primary school. There is heavy police presence in  Kajiado town, IIbisil, Maili Tisa and Namanga towns which are considered volatile, although no incidences have been reported so far.

There was low voter turnout in some polling stations, with voters complaining that the process was too slow. However, voters in Kajiado town turned up in high numbers at the nine polling stations early.

Kajiado Central returning officer, Maurice Ligulu said the voting exercise started at 6am in all the stations.

Voting will close at 5pm and results will be electronically sent to the Maasai Technical Training Institute, which is the tallying centre.

IEBC CEO Ezra Simiyu Chiloba said they had stationed 750 officials to man the exercise.
