Eight victims, including police killed in Turkana bandit attack

6 Apr 2015

Eight people, including five police reservists, were killed in a bandit attack in Turkana county. Heavily armed bandits attacked Kaikunyuk village and killed three herders injuring 10 others.

The Police Reservists responded to the attack but were shot dead while pursuing the bandits at Kalimngorok area.

The raiders stole more than 200 livestock during the attack along the border between Pokot and Turkana counties. Area deputy county commissioner Elijah Kodo said security officers have been deployed to the area.

He said more GSU and anti-stock theft personnel would be sent to the area since the few security officers cannot respond adequately to attacks.
