Nairobi Central OCPD Patrick Oduma said that detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations raided the Supkem office of Sheikh Abdi Hajji within the city centre where they found the travel documents and the certificates.
He was placed in custody but was later released on a cash bail at around 8 pm.
Relatives who talked to Nation at Central Police Station said that the passports had been left at the suspect's office by those who had traveled to the Hajj Pilgrimage in Mecca last year in October.
Last month, Supkem warned that it would not support radicalism in Kenya and urged Muslim youth to stay away from vices that gave Islam a bad name. According to Supkem Secretary General Wachu Adan, the move by the government to stop radicalism is within their right and has urged youth to stay away from trouble.
