A Court of Appeal sitting has ruled that Kidero was not validly elected governor of Nairobi County. His Deputy, Jonathan Mweke also lost his seat hence Nairobi residents will have to do without a governor for a while.
The ruling was delivered following an appeal that had been filed by his opponent, Ferdinand Waititu, after loosing the case at the High Court.
In a majority ruling, the appellate judges Mohamed Warsame, GBM Kariuki, and Kiage Waweru nullified the election of Dr Kidero on condition that the High Court Judge did not give the petitioner, Mr Ferdinand Waititu, a fair hearing.
Kidero has said he will appeal to the Supreme Court.
