First things first. The attacks in Mpeketoni that left at least 48 dead must be condemned by any degree possible. The murder of civilians and security personnel in cold blood should not find support anywhere within our borders and minds. May the dear souls that we lost rest in peace.
The Jubilee government has been suggesting that the attacks were politically instigated and were as a result of incitement by politicians in the region. If this is true, it's very unfortunate.
But then this should serve as a wake up call to the government to work at securing us, the citizenry from internal and external threats. We pay taxes for that. Insecurity should be an article for another day. For now let me urge Kenyans to shun the politicians inciting us to violence.
Who, really, is inciting Kenyans? You could ask.
The magnitude of incitement and promotion of negative ethnicity in Kenya is worrying and could easily cause a civil war. What worries more is the arrogance of those involved causing animosity.
Sadly though, those leading the hate speech campaigns are politicians affiliated to the government, to be a little more accurate, TNA. And the government is doing little to nothing as far as stopping such campaigns is concerned. In fact, it appears that they enjoy support from various quarters within the government. A government that we expect to be uniting us.
Moses Kuria, the TNA activist, must have been spitting hate speech for quite a while before I caught whiff of his activities. I only came to learn about his campaign when he posted some tribal crap on his Facebook account. He was accusing some Kenyan communities of the security lapse that led to blowing up of Gikomba market. He also accused western country of not sharing security intelligence which he believed they had. Kuria then proclaimed that he'd be ready to take up arms against some perceived enemies, better known to himself and perhaps his cronies.
Recently, that is, after the attacks in Mpeketoni, this Kuria took to social media accusing Raila specifically for the attacks. He posted a myriad insults and suggested that Raila be placed under house arrest.
I don't know whatever his venomous mouth or itchy fingers will be typing next. But I know he ought to have been charged long ago. His activities are definitely dividing Kenyans. He is starting a war. And he must be organizing it too.
In TNA's propaganda and hate speech brigade is Field Marshall Maina Kamanda, the Starehe MP. Jubilee's failure to secure Kenyans gave him sufficient ammo to attack Raila and CORD. His actions after the attack in Mpeketoni were all telling. Any critic could suggest that he planned it to find a reason to attack Raila.
Maina Kamanda planned an anti-Raila demonstration and some MPs joined him alongside a handful of jobless youth. I wondered how he managed to convice these youth to march with him. But then they could have been paid. If anything, our jobless youth are desperate and would do anything for a few hundred shillings.
When he got to Muthurwa, Kamanda asked Kikuyus there to be ready to take up arms when called upon. He said they would defend the Kikuyu presidency at all costs. Somebody? Kikuyu presidency? At all costs? Ring a bell? I bet it does.
He went ahead to threaten Wetangula and tell him to his face that 'they' would kill him. By 'they', I believe he means the Mount Kenya mafia and corruption wheeler dealers. 'They' also threatened to kill Raila.
Chronologically speaking, this paragraph should be somewhere up there. But I'll place it here because this is my article and I can style it as I wish. On the contrary, Kenya is no ones personal property to handle as they wish. Kenya belongs to the citizens just as well as the Kamandas and Kurias of this nation. We shouldn't just sit back and watch them tear down our unity and societal fabric. Arise now and tell them, "Enough of your crap."
I strongly believe that these TNA politicians should be somewhere behind a dock with a judge reading to us that part of the constitution which entitles us to send them to some dark dungeon of a cell.
Enter Ole Lenku, the Cabinet Secretary to whom Jubilee has entrusted our national security.
His statements on matters of national security have been either idiotic or simply political brouhaha.
Here's a CS who takes over 10 hours to prepare for a 2 minute briefing. And not just a briefing for that matter, but one on the sensitive matter of national security. And when he finally makes his appearance, he has no explanations to offer Kenyans.
After Mpeketoni attacks, he insinuated that Raila and CORD could be responsible for the attacks. He told us that Raila's history or something to that effect was an open book. Ole Lenku should read whatever open books he is telling us about. That's what we pay taxes for. We don't pay him tell us about open books. Let him read his goddamn open books and solve our terror menace.
He doesn't earn hefty salaries to stand before the media and speak nonsense. Neither is he paid to incite Kenyans against national leaders, unless of course, he is part of Jubilee's hate caravan.
By the way, Who writes Lenku's speeches? Why does he read them in public? Why on earth does the government even allow him to address us?
Meanwhile, Uhuru Kenyatta should focus on healing the ethnic divisions threatening to tear the nation apart. He should do this at all costs.
Instead, the president engages in empty rhetoric and chest thumping, declaring to us the number of years he'll reign.
Going around the country holding political rallies in market places and funerals is not what I believe the presidency should be so much engrossed in. Neither should it be dedicated in checking the opposition.
The opposition should keep the government in check. The reverse is false.
We cannot run away from indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians by blaming political activities for our woes.
Our society is plagued by incitement, from TNA politicians and their activists. TNA politicians are hell bent on throwing this country into a civil war by promoting negative ethnicity and tribalism. Their weapon of choice is the Kikuyu community. And their scheme is to pit these Kenyan brethren against the rest of Kenya.
TNA hate speech campaigns are intricately planned and we should do all we can to stop them. Before they drag us into ethnic war.
