The High Court on Monday stopped the issuing of appointment letters to 10,000 police recruits who were selected following the countrywide recruitment drive on July 14.
Justice Mumbi Ngugi, who presided over the case, ruled that the status quo be maintained until an application filed by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is heard and determined.
IPOA filed a case with the High Court seeking to have the recruitment annulled on grounds that it was marred by nepotism, corruption and malpractice.
The case is set to be heard on August 20.
