The Okoa Kenya referendum drive has hit the three million signature collection mark out of their targeted five million, with Jubilee coalition's strongholds contributing massively to the numbers.
The process, which kicked off last month, has rapidly gained traction and popularity, with Kenyans signing up in support of the referendum to enact key constitutional changes.
ODM Executive Director Magerer Langat said that the coalition is looking to complete the signature collection process by mid October and proceed to the next stage of the referendum process.
"We are over the three million mark in signatures and we have been aided heavily by Jubilee strongholds despite them saying not ", Langat said Thursday who also insisted that Kenyans are tired of the the current government thus the unforeseen support.
"They are just tired of a government that is not delivering in any of its promises. They want change and that is why they are supporting the referendum," he remarked.
Despite vigorous opposition from the Jubilee government, those pushing for the respective referenda are confident they will come to fruition.
Speaking recently, CORD leader Raila Odinga, said that he knows there will be no stopping the referendum.
"They will say what they want but this referendum is a people driven process and will not be derailed," he said before his departure to Germany.
