Technical University of Kenya students blocked University Way in a protest against delayed Helb loans on Tuesday.
The students marched to the University of Nairobi to seek student leader Babu Owino's support.
They caused a traffic snarl-up on the road, the police using teargas to disperse them.
Owino said some UoN students are also yet to receive their loans.
"We stand with fellow students who deserve to receive the funds so that they can continue with their studies," he told the Star on phone.
He however restricted the support to peaceful demonstrations.
The Higher Education Loans Board had assured that the funds would be disbursed by January 27.
The board could not be immediately reached for comment.
