William Ruto may end up partyless as URP members resign

Deputy President William Ruto may end up partyless as his party members desert him in droves weeks after dissolving URP to join JAP.

Ruto is also facing a new rebellion as Rift Valley accuse him of ‘exposing’ its professionals working in government to public ridicule days after top Kalenjin technocrats were fired from President Uhuru’s regime. While the DP maintains a brave face, the ground beneath him is fast shifting, with top politicians in the Rift Valley secretly said to be urging the suspended technocrats not to return to government.

The DP shocked Kalenjins when he told them to join JAP, which they clearly see they have no stake in. Many are trooping to KANU to avoid being orphans while others are waiting for Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto to come up with a new party.

The apathy in the Rift Valley to JAP stems from a feeling that the community is being used as a ‘trading commodity’. Many do not see Rutto succeeding President Uhuru and are more comfortable with Isaac Rutto attempting another Alliance.

Several top Kalenjn professionals working as cabinet secretaries and in various commissions have been told to step aside pending investigations.

CSs Davis Chirchir, Felix Koskei and Ruto’s Chief of Staff MaryAnne Keittany are among the big names who have since been purged. EACC commissioner Irene Keino has also sensationally claimed how she was yesterday summoned and threatened to resign, with the promise that she will be posted as a Deputy Ambassador to Brazil.

Ruto is blamed for not protecting his side of the ruling coalition.
