You have three months to ship out the Daadab camp, says Ruto

13 Apr 2015

The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) has three months to close the Daadab refugee camp in North Eastern Kenya and send the more than 400,000 refugees living there back to their country or else the Kenyan government will relocate them, Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto has declared.

Speaking at a rally on Saturday, Ruto claims the Dadaab camp in is a recruitment centre for al-Shabab, whose raiders last week killed 148 people at the Garissa University College.

The attack on Garissa University College on April 2 is one of the worst attacks extremists have carried out in the country, second only to the 1998 bombing of the U.S. embassy in Nairobi.
