FIFA World cup 2014 has been canceled

31 Mar 2014

In a seemingly dramatic turn of events, the highly anticipated FIFA world cup 2014 has now been called off by the board managing the worldwide event.

The announcement was made in a press conference convened last night, the body's media representative. Details surrounding the unfortunate occurrence were not immediately available. The information on the official FIFA website did not make a mention of the cancellation or the events that led the football body to come up with their resolution.

The spectacular event which was scheduled to run from 12 June to 13 July 2014 had been slated for Brazil. This would have been the second time Brazil hosted the FIFA world cup, the previous being in 1950.

Sources close to the procedures at operations in FIFA disclosed to our reporter that the resolution had been reached due to unresolved differences with the Local Management Committee (LOC) in Brazil.

Angry football fans engaged the police in running battles as they contested the cancellation. The rioters disrupted normal operations in the city of Brasilia as they threw Molotov cocktails into the palace.

It is still not clear if the highly coveted FIFA world cup tickets already sold across the globe would be refunded or if a different venue will be chosen for the event followed by many across continents.

The FIFA world cup, which was first held in 1930 was previously canceled in 1942 at the beginning of World War II.

Still much remains to our speculation. Now before you start sharing the bad news, did you notice it's fools day?
