Legislators warn Jubilee over shady deals

10 May 2014

Legislators on Saturday denounced the Jubilee administration for working behind the scenes to agree to deals that may see the country auctioned to foreign investors.

They mentioned Uhuru Kenyatta’s recent visit to Nigeria where he is purported to have signed oil deals and questioned why Nigerian barons were allowed to prospect and drill oil in the country since there was much potential to harness the oil resource locally.

It was also observed that the business delegation that accompanied Uhuru Kenyatta to Nigeria was not representative of Kenya.

The legislators also scoffed at the visit by the Chinese prime minister, Li Keqiang adding that China  was known for deploying substandard labour force and products to third world countries.

The legislators were addressing the public at Got Rateng Secondary School in Kasipul Kabondo constituency during a fundraiser in aid the Kabondo Kasipul Women Sacco.

Among those who attended the function were Homa Bay woman representative Gladys Wanga, MPs James Koyoo, Jared Kopiyo,Agostino Neto, Millie Odhiambo, Ken Obura and John Mbadi.

Others were Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti and Isiolo woman representative Tina Galgalo.

The MPs also threw their weight behind Cotu and rebuked PUSETU which enjoys government support.

Legislators, Wanga and Koyoo told Labour minister Kazungu Kambi to keep off Cotu’s affairs.

They claimed that those waging war against Mr Atwoli are only eying the workers funds among them, NSSF and NHIF.

On his part, Mr Atwoli, said  that only a few people in the government are out to destabilise Cotu.
