Florence Kiplagat, the 2009 World Cross Country champion and two-time Berlin Marathon champion, came second at 32:09.48, in time for the silver after tripping and falling just a few meters to the finish line.

Emily Chebet crossed the finish line at position three, settling for the Bronze.

The medals brings the Kenya's total medal tally to 11 with four golds, five silver and two bronze.
