Tensions was high in Maporomoko area of Lamu county on Wednesday as residents woke to leaflets warning of more attacks.
The leaflets thought to have been distributed on Monday night, demanded non-indeginous tribes in Lamu county to pack up and leave.
County commander Miiri Njenga did not comment on the matter even as residents continue to flee for fear of being caught up in more attacks.
Lamu county has been the epicenter of brutal attacks over the past three weeks that have so far claimed over 90 lives.
The government has blamed the killings on political incitement and ethnic profiling and accused the oppositon of enlisting outlawed groups including the Mombasa Republican Council, Mungiki and the Somali-based al Shabaab to make the country ungovernable.
