Garissa University College was on Friday morning closed indefinitely following an attack by armed gunmen that resulted in at least 147 confirmed fatalities.
While condoling with the victims and their families, Education CS Jacob Kaimenyi, who visited the institution on Friday, advised the Senate to close the it immediately.
At least 147 people were killed and 79 injured in the attack and subsequent 15 hour siege, the worst on Kenyan soil since the US embassy bombing in 1998.
Interior Cabinet Secretary, Joseph Nkaissery said four gunmen strapped with explosives were behind the attack, the same number that killed 67 people during the 2013 bloodbath at Westgate mall, Nairobi.
Early Thursday evening, IG Joseph Boinett declared a two-week curfew, starting today, in Tana River, Wajir, Garissa and Mandera.
