Mpesa robber gunned over Sh10,000

Police on Tuesday shot a man suspected to have robbed Sh10,000 from an M-Pesa agent in Samba, Rachuonyo South in Homabay county. The suspect was shot at Pap-Onditi area along the Homabay-Kisumu road as he was allegedly trying to escape.

Kisumu police boss, David Ng’etich said the suspect was in the company of three other people, when Nyakach police intercepted their car which they were trailing. The three have since been taken in for questioning.

Rachuonyo South police boss, Patricia Nasio said they acted on an alarm raised by the robbed business woman who was made to hand over the money at gunpoint.

Among the occupants of the car was Bishop Jonah Obonyo of Praise Cathedral Church in Nairobi. The driver who was reported to be a pastor in the same church was rushed to hospital.

Nyanza Regional Police Commander Charles Narangwi has said investigations are already underway.
