Cord to start collecting referendum signatures next week Wednesday

CORD's Okoa Kenya political wing has announced that it will begin collecting signatures in support of the proposed referendum on Wednesday next week, August 13.

While making the announcement, CORD's committee of experts chairman, Paul Mwangi said that they had narrowed down on a six-point agenda on which the amendment initiative will be based.

The agenda includes devolution, land reforms, electoral reforms, inclusivity and equality, fighting corruption and enhancing security.

He also said that the venue for the first registration exercise would be announced today by the Okoa Kenya political wing.

Mr Mwangi leads the four-member experts team that includes lawyer Kethi Kilonzo, former Labour PS Beatrice Kituyi and former Kenya National Commission on Human Rights member Khelef Khalifa.

Governors are also set to unveil their steering committee today to push for a similar vote.
